Tim Aylen is a co-owner and lead photographer with Bahamas Visual Services, a full-service photo and video company based in The Bahamas.

Tim, who has over 35-years of experience in the field of photography helps to manage and run the hugely successful company known locally as BVS. The company is an industry-leader in providing high quality and dependable photo and video services to the major resorts, cruise lines and destination management companies in The Bahamas.

Along with his partner Craig Lenihan, also a 35 year veteran in The Bahamas photography world, Tim helps maintain the company’s stance as a solid partner with Atlantis Paradise Island as their supplier of choice for destination weddings at the resort every week. With a steady stream of weddings spanning over 15 years at the resort, the BVS team of photographers maintain a top quality, boutique-style of wedding photography not before seen with package-style resort weddings. Coupled with family portrait sessions and secret proposals, the BVS team are kept busy with a variety of photo sessions.

He has covered most major hurricanes, royal, presidential, state and diplomatic visits and breaking news stories coming out of the Bahamas archipelago.

Most notably Tim was the only photographer on the ground in Abaco with digital capabilities in 2001 to cover the Aaliyah plane crash and provided the Associated Press with exclusive coverage. He also spearheaded coverage of the Anna Nicole Smith funeral in 2006 and the ensuing court saga, along with countless other celebrity-based news events in the Bahamas. 

Throughout his time working for the Associated Press in the earlier days, Tim was given satellite equipment to transmit images from hurricane ravaged areas and embraced that technology. 

He also transmitted digital photos back to his afternoon newspaper, The Tribune, of Bahamian tennis player Mark Knowles playing on Centre Court at Wimbledon in 1993. These digital images were published in the newspaper within hours of them being taken; a first for a Bahamian photographer.

Tim and his wife Christine, who plays an integral role in the growth and development of the BVS brand by ensuring the company maintains a solid online and social presence, live in Freeport, Grand Bahama.

Craig Lenihan, a 35-year veteran photographer and videographer, is a managing partner at Bahamas Visual Services (BVS), a full-service photo/video company in Nassau, The Bahamas. Craig Lenihan, business partner and fellow industry veteran Tim Aylen, and a pool of talented Bahamian professionals guided by them, have shot stills and videos for a wide range of corporate and private clients in The Bahamas and internationally. These include the Atlantis mega resort, which has trusted and relied upon Craig and Tim as their chosen providers of photos/videos for hundreds of destination weddings and commercial work since the resort’s opening in 1994. BVS is also the preferred choice of four of the country’s leading destination management companies for their corporate resort photography and video needs.  

Craig’s experience in journalism has instilled in him the importance of accuracy and meeting tight global deadlines. For 35 years he has shot, edited and captioned images and videos for international newspapers and magazines, both directly and through news giants such as The Associated Press and Reuters. 

Craig completed his schooling in the United Kingdom at age 16, after which he began training as a sports photographer at Action Images of London, one of the United Kingdom’s biggest sports photo agencies. Action Images was subsequently acquired by Reuters in 2005. After three years shooting professional sports teams in Britain, Craig branched out on his own and returned to The Bahamas in 1993 at age 21. He joined The Tribune newspaper as a staff photographer, and for several years he captured images of some of the most important stories of the day by being resourceful and innovative. 

In 1998 he launched a freelance career and his own company, Vision Photography, which offered his expertise to the commercial, advertising and public relations industries. Craig progressed to digital photography as early as 2000 and is skilled in using strobe lighting for portrait, corporate, commercial and still-life photography, as well as in film and television lighting. He was director of photography on Bahamian films "Crazy Love," “Fresh,” The Kindly Ones,” and “Foxy Ladies.”

BVS has grown since its founding in 2011, and Craig has taken on the added administrative skills of bookkeeping, invoicing, and tax and government regulations compliance. But the core philosophy of the business has remained the same: providing clients with images and films that fulfil their stated objectives in a timely and professional manner.

Donald knowles

One of the country's top freelance photographers, Donald brings a wealth of skill and reliability to the team on a daily basis.

As a former photographer of The Nassau Guardian, Donald worked side by side on many assignments with Tim and Craig when they were shooting for The Tribune. Friendships and team work that began over 30 years ago and still continues today.
